Silent Wings Museum preserves the legacy of the U.S. Army Air Force’s Glider Program as it existed during World War II, when new technologies and capabilities were only just making silent incursions possible. With the primary focus of landing behind enemy lines during decisive missions, the gliders were an important asset during the war and now the museum displays items including a restored glider, photographs, memorabilia and stories from some of the pilots. The museum is five miles north of downtown, past the Lubbock Country Club at the Lubbock International Airport.
